Ed Sheeran Shares The Sweet Backstory Behind His Mysterious Ring

No, Ed Sheeran has not secretly wed his fianceé Cherry Seaborn, but there is a backstory to that ring that he's been sporting as of late. During his appearance at the 2018 BRIT Awards on Tuesday (February 21), the pop singer/songwriter spilled the details behind the mysterious ring during an interview with British talk show Lorraine.

"I never saw why men didn't wear engagement rings. It's the same commitment either way," Sheeran said on the red carpet. "Cherry made it for me herself out of silver clay. I really like it." Instead of hitting up the afterparties, the star and his soon-to-be-bride took to London's Gymkhana for a laid-back dinner and, as you might have expected, he was spotted with the band, while Seaborn showed off her own engagement rock.

Despite nominations in categories like Best Album of the Year, British Single of the Year and British Video of the Year, Sheeran lost to the competition. Nonetheless, he did walk away with the Global Success Award, which was presented by Elton John and Ronnie Wood of The Rolling Stones. Elsewhere in the ceremony, he delivered an emotional rendition of "Supermarket Flowers" off 2017's ÷, which has spawned previous hits like "Castle on the Hill," "Shape of You" and "Perfect."
