Listen, during this time of isolation and social distancing, it's important to note that the rules of the wild still apply: Keep your distance from wild animals.
A Montana reporter has quickly gone viral after he had a run-in, shall we say, with a herd of bison while on assignment.
Earlier this week, Yellowstone National Park officials announced that the park would be closing amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, so KTVM NBC Montana reporter Deion Broxton went to Yellowstone to report on the news. However, while filming, the 27-year-old reporter saw a heard of nearby bison approaching him, and let's just say, it's become the Internet's favorite moment of the week.
In the hilarious clip, which Deion shared on Twitter, he's shown talking to the camera before abruptly stopping mid-speech to look off to the side at the bison off-camera. “Oh my God,” he says as his eyes dart back and forth between the camera and the bison. “Oh my God.”
He then pauses for a moment, clearly debating on what to do, before ultimately deciding that he's done shooting at this location. "Oh no, I ain't messing with you," he hilariously says as he walks out of the frame, picks up his camera gear and throws it into his trunk. "Oh no."
“There was a herd of bison walking right toward me at @YellowstoneNPS today!” Deion captioned the clip on Twitter. He also spoke about the incident to the Baltimore Sun, telling the outlet: “They always say, ‘Stay at least 25 yards away from mammals.' But that damn bison broke the 25-yard barrier and I was like, ‘Uhhh, I’m not dealing with this!’"
“I don’t know if he was actually going to come at me, but I knew I didn’t want to stick around to find out,” he added. “I wasn’t trying to be on CNN for being killed by a bison.”
