As we continue to hear terrifying accounts of victims of the shooting in Las Vegas last night, we also hear stories of people coming together to help. We've seen strangers reaching out on social media to offer rides to anyone in the area who may need a way out of the city, and heard stories of people who were running for cover during the shooting stopping to help others who were injured or fallen.
One way the Vegas community came out was with blood donations. Just a few hours after the shooting, donation centers were already full of people waiting to give blood, and for the most part, have remained steady.
You can also donate to The National Compassion Fund, which distributes donations from the public directly to victims of a mass crime. The fund has previously helped victims of 9/11 and Sandy Hook.
This event is a good reminder for everyone, no matter where we call home, to, continue to give blood locally. Every drop counts.
