A rare glimpse into how players deal with tough losses was caught on camera when WSU's Landry Shamet was photographed being comforted by Austin Reeves after their heartbreaking NCAA loss on Friday.
The caption reads:
It's so easy for us as fans to get upset at these games. And then you see a photo like this and it puts it all in perspective. [The photographer who took this photo said Landry Shamet was in tears and told reporters he was taking the blame for our loss.] These are young men with a lot of weight and pressure on their shoulders, in the public eye no less. My heart hurts for Landry and this photo honestly got me a little choked up. It takes me back to our Final 4 loss, seeing their heads down too. Don't you ever hang your heads, Shockers. You continue to strive and put Wichita State on the map. There is still so much to come for all of these men. I can't wait until next season! Go Shocks!
