Prosecutors in Minneapolis announced yesterday that no charges will be filed in connection with Prince’s death.
Prince died from an overdose of the drug fentanyl, and Mark Metz, the Carver County Attorney in Minnesota, announced during a press conference that they determined the singer had no idea he was ingesting the drug. They say the singer was taking counterfeit Vicoden that was laced with fentanyl, noting, “nothing in the evidence suggests Prince knowingly ingested fentanyl.” He also added that they could not figure out who was giving Prince the counterfeit Vicodin.
While none of the prescriptions Prince had were in his name, Metz says there was no “reliable evidence” to prove where he got the drugs, so no criminal charges will be filed, adding there was “no conspiracy to murder Prince.”
