When a rescue team in Evergreen, Colorado got a call about a dog being stuck on a hiking trail, they headed out to help. Kato, the five-year-old, 120-pound Great Pyrenees was hiking with his owners and just got too exhausted to finish the route.
The terrain where they were hiking, Maxwell Falls, can be steep and rigorous, so the Evergreen Rescue Team isn’t surprised when they get a call from someone in distress on the trail in that area. And the fact that it was a “dog in distress” didn’t slow them down.
Kato was about a mile from the trail head when he laid down, unable to go on. He was likely dehydrated and too tired to continue, but because he’s so large, his owners needed help getting him out. The team carried the pooch out on a stretcher, where he relaxed and took in the view.
