I'm so excited to go and see a few hockey games as a fan this next season. I worked with the Wichita Thunder for 20 years doing music at the games, and some occasional Public Address announcing. Well, I decided to call it quits after this past season. I still plan on being involved with the Thunder and making sure that everyone in the state of Kansas knows how awesome hockey is!
The Thunder will kick off their fourth season as a member of the ECHL and 26th in the Air Capital on October 13th and 14th against the Indy Fuel. 28 of the 36 home games will fall on Friday, Saturday or Sundays. Wichita will host the Allen Americans six times, which the most that one opponent will make an appearance at INTRUST Bank Arena. The Thunder will host Rapid City five times, followed by the newly-renamed Kansas City Mavericks, who come to Wichita four times. Making their first-ever appearance will be the Kalamazoo Wings, who will visit four times. Idaho will make their first appearance to Wichita since the 2015-16 season, playing a pair of games at the beginning of March. Wichita will play seven games in November and December, which are the busiest months for the Thunder. After the New Year, Wichita will play six times in both January and February.
