Amelia Earhart has always been one of the most famous names in Kansas history. The Atchison native was an American aviation pioneer and author. My kids even attended an elementary school in Goddard named after her.
Amelia Earhart was the first female aviator to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean. She disappeared on July 2, 1937, while flying over the Pacific Ocean. Her disappearance has remained a mystery since then.
The History Channel has discovered a photo (above) that may hold the clue to her fate. They have a documentary that will air this Sunday on the History Channel.
