Things To Do In Doo-Dah This Weekend

It's a busy weekend in Wichita.  You have many options for things to do, thanks to my friends at Visit Wichita.  Check out this list of events going on this weekend.


GREAT PLAINS RENAISSANCE & SCOTTISH FESTIVAL

Whether you’re Scottish nobility or a fan of the Renaissance, this medieval village takes visitors on a journey to the Middle Ages to celebrate all beings in the realm. While you’re there, be sure to catch the authentic Scottish Highland Games or take a bite out of a traditional turkey leg. Kids tickets are free with advanced purchase of adult ticket.

 

RACE FOR THE CURE

The 28th annual Susan G. Komen Wichita Race for the Cure on September, 23rd at the Waterwalk Plaza in Downtown Wichita. Celebrate, honor, and remember those that have fought breast cancer. They have something for the entire family to participate in throughout the morning.  This is their largest fundraiser of the year! They rely on this event to help raise a majority of funds to be able to help women and men here in Kansas that are battling breast cancer. They will also be able to contribute to cutting edge research that is progressing forward to find the cures for breast cancer. AVENUE ART DAYS

The objective of Avenue Art Days is to showcase the talent of young artists around Wichita as they create works of art to spice up the look along Douglas. From light poles, park benches, crosswalks, murals and bridges, groups of artists and designs bring color and creativity to downtown Wichita. As the event grows in popularity, there are more murals and artwork that pop up along Douglas between Washington and Hydraulic. Douglas Design District has two Avenue Art Days creating more than 40 murals across the streets of downtown Wichita.

 

OPEN STREETS ICT

Join a nationwide movement to get people active as four miles of Douglas Avenue are closed for Open Streets ICT. The street will be open for biking, walking, running, live music and dancing, entertainment, food, art, yoga and more.
